What is the SPD system?

SPD (Shimano Pedaling Dynamics) is a pedal system that allows cycling shoes to clip into the pedal using special cleats, improving pedaling efficiency and providing a firm connection between the foot and the pedal.

Instructions for measuring the pedal thread:

Preparation: Remove the existing pedal from the bike to measure the thread on the axle.

Necessary tools: We recommend using a thread gauge, or if not available, you can measure it with a caliper or a precise ruler.

Diameter measurement: Place the caliper or ruler on the widest part of the axle's thread (the threaded section). Measure the thread diameter in millimeters.

Measurement interpretation:

If the measured diameter is approximately 14.3 mm, then the thread is 9/16".

If the measured diameter is approximately 12.7 mm, the thread is 1/2".

If the measured diameter is approximately 8 mm, the thread is M8.

Confirmation: Check the compatibility of the new pedal with the obtained measurement before installation.
